Dan and Holly Dzundza are fourth generation graziers who manage Penjobe Pastoral in Central Queensland. As leaders in the organic cattle industry with a reputation for producing high-quality product, they were awarded the Australian Certified Organic Farmer of the Year award in 2017.
Situated in Central Queensland at the foothills of the Carnarvon National Park and covering approximately 22,000 acres, Penjobe Pastoral is perfectly positioned for an organic farming operation. Managed by fourth generation graziers Holly and Dan Dzundza, the farm is still owned by Philip & Gennett Mayne (Holly’s parents), who were the driving force behind Penjobe becoming certified organic in 1991.
Dan and Holly currently run about 1400 head of cattle. They are assisted by a team of staff who are well versed in running a certified organic operation and trained in low stress stock handling methods. Various management practices to look after both the animals and the soil have also been implemented at Penjobe. As Dan and Holly firmly believe “you can’t produce a healthy product in an unhealthy environment.”
